Something New ? AT Pro

Howdy Folks,

Wow it is amazing how time passes. Christmas is here and not even any Winter or cold weather to go with it. It is almost like Spring in West Texas. I hope all are looking forward to being with family and friends as we exchange gifts together. As for the detectorist, we are all thinking about what could be under the tree ?

The new AT Pro from Garrett is a nice departure from the big bucks machines being offered by the various detector companies. One feature I really like is the waterproof electronics. I have not done any serious detecting or testing of the AT yet. Mr. Dankowski is giving us a lot of info as he goes through the paces on this machine. Sure there are a few bugs to take care of by Garrett as they are discovered during it's initiation.

I want to again wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and be safe in the field also. May your finds be golden.

John himself

Howdy all,

I hope your all getting to do a little detecting and not frozen in too badly in the North. Winter is nonexistent here in West Texas. I think we are in an Indian kind of Summer. I thought I would try posting a pic of me and the Ace 350 and AT Pro. I haven't been able to get out and work these 2 detectors much at all but I hope to soon. I am under the weather a bit right now. I also want to say thank you to everyone that has done business with John's Detectors and I hope to see or hear from y'all again. I am forever grateful for you all. I hope that the Lord is Blessing you all this Christmas. So many thanks again and be safe in the field and I hope everyone get's that detector you have been wanting for so long under the tree. May your finds be truly golden. Merry Christmas !

Garrett AT Pro

Howdy Friends,

I am so glad that Garrett decided to start changing it's models being offered now. The AT Pro is such a change that for once I am talking good about something Garrett has that works very well. I hope we will see even more from them. The new coil design is also a welcome feature. Ok I hope to have more time to use this new machine from Garrett. Everyone be safe and give the AT Pro your consideration for sure !

Meteorites

Hi everyone,
I hope the hunting is good and your finds are piling up ! I have a lot of calls for help in ID'ing meteorites and to purchase them also. Let me say this, I like meteorites and hunting them but I am not an expert in identification of them. I leave this up to my onetime neighbor and school mate Robert Haag, he is called the Meteorite Man not to be confused with Meteorite Men. Actually I don't really collect them either. But lookup Meteorite Man on google and Robert's website can be found easily. Give him a call and go from there. But I do thank you for any calls for metal detectors to find meteorites.. Alright let's all go meteorite hunting and if you need a metal detector give me a call and good hunting all. Merry Christmas too !

Garrett AT Pro

Howdy all,
I just wanted to say I am sold out of the At Pro's at this time but I do have the Ace 350 package deal and Pro Pointers in stock. Christmas is marching in now and it won't be long in coming. I'm not sure when I will have more AT's in stock. I still can't believe all of the negative comments about it on another forum. I would like to spend a lot of time on the AT. So far I like it compared to other model's in the lineup. Ok I am out of here right now and will be back when I have something new. Be safe everyone and good hunting.

The Minelab Safari

Hi everyone,
I hope the weekend was good for all. I just wanted to comment on the Minelab Safari a bit. I have noticed on a lot of forums that a lot of detectorists are not too sure about the machine. It uses the same FBS platform as the Etrac. With the implementation of a new microprocessor it is not the ole Quattro anymore. The recovery speed is much better now and it is an enjoyable instrument to use. I see also that the finds made using the Safari are really good ones. It is like most any detector, once you invest the time to become one with the instrument, your on your way to some good metal detecting experiences. You have the simplicity combined with the power of an excellent detector. I use mine mostly in the relic mode using ferrous audio. As for pinpointing, I use the toe or front end of the DD coil to zero in on my prey. I also like the fact that there is a good selection of coils to be had. If weight is a factor then get a harness with a D ring and bungee it up. I just wanted to share my confidence in the Safari too get the good ones and deep also. Ok adios for now and be safe in the field.

Garrett AT Pro

Hi everyone,
I have begun to see a lot of negative talk about the new Garrett coming to a dealer near you. It will be interesting to see once the AT gets into the field, and see the real results from the use of the machine by regulars like you and I. I just hope that the AT will be a new direction for Garrett. I have used a lot of detectors and I always find out if you don't spend enough time with the one in your hand then you maybe on an endless journey trying to get the perfect setup. This is what I try to emphasize to my customers. Be patient and use those controls the way they are meant to be used. So I will not pass judgement on the AT until Ihave used one. The new DD coil seems to be working good so far. I have been trying out the new Ace 350 and with the new coil it is an improvement in my opinion. But what I need to do is put the concentric on the 350 and compare the two coils. At any rate it is always the same, negative opinions against positive opinions. Heck I just want to get my hands on the AT and get the real scuttlebutt on the AT myself ! Ok all my detecting friends I will go for now and good hunting to all, I hope everyone finds that special treasure waiting to be found by you. Be safe in the field.

Garrett AT Pro

It is amazing how fast things get around, so I might as well post it here too. Yes Garrett is going to be releasing another new metal detector called the AT Pro which stands for all terrain. Yep it is waterproof to 10 feet. It is also a different color, black. The digital display has a 2 digit numerical readout, I think Garrett got the message. The AT comes with the new DD coil also. The operating frequency is 15 Khz which may make it a decent gold nugget hunter. So for once I am excited about seeing a new Garrett being released. It should be a cool machine. You can go to Find's Forum under the Garrett Users section to see pics posted of the AT. So I definitely want to get my hands on this model for sure and offer it to my customers. Ok be safe in the field and it will be November before we see the AT released. Good hunting all.

Ace350 package

Hi all,

The new Ace 350 has a package deal also. It includes the Garrett Clearsound headphones, stainless steel trowel, Garrett finds pouch and of course the new DD coil. I am anxious to give it a run and see what the new coil is like. I hope this will be a higher performance machine. I am really surprised by how light it is with the larger coil. Ok good hunting everyone and hang onto your undies because Garrett isn't finished with new things!

So I won't be open at the shop this Holiday but you can call and get my wife. Ok Happy Holiday Folks and hope to see you this weekend.

New models

Howdy everyone,
It looks like we are at that time of year when new detector models start hitting the market. Also a change in seasons will be here soon I hope. I hate the dead of summer when those triple digits come along. I am looking forward to sales coming alive again for metal detectors. With the new Minelabs, Whites, and Garrett coming out it will be interesting to see the field reports on them. I wish Tesoro could get their water machines back in production soon too. I have only my demo Tiger Shark which is a pretty good machine. I rented it to a local law enforcement group and they used it in a small lake. They were impressed with it's sensitivity. I am hoping to get out more to detect now that it will be cooler. I hope to give the new Garrett a workout. But I am glad I have my Minelab Etrac, it is a great machine ! Ok I will go for now and if anyone needs a detector or accessory just give me a call and we will get you going. Many thanks also for your patronage everyone. Good hunting all.

Snake Guardz-Lower Leg Armor

Hi to all,
Well it looks like summer is just around the corner. It is a sign for our very abundant reptile, the Rattlesnake to start getting out for a tan. I go out to the farm fields to detect and Snake Guardz are top of the list for protection. I don't leave home without them. I have had too many close encounters with the Diamondback, even in my yard. So you might want to get a pair of these to avoid a bite that could kill you and at the least cost you about 17,000.00 to get out of the hospital ! I have them on the website for sale. Ok everyone be safe and good hunting to you all.

Hi one and all,

I hope everyone had a great weekend and we are back from the Minelab seminar that was held in Phoenix. We had a great time and learned more about the Minelab line of metal detectors. I am now a Minelab Certified Partner and very proud of this certification. Kevin Hoagland did a wonderful job in teaching us some finer points of the model line. So I hope to be of greater service to my regular customers and new ones too. Minelab and John's Detectors will be an even stronger partnership to help you all with your needs and questions about your Minelab metal detector. World's Largest Rattlesnake Roundup

Hi Everyone,

Well we just finished up a show at the World's Largest Rattlesnake Roundup in Sweetwater,Tx. a week ago and it was a great success again ! But I didn't sell anything as for metal detecting and prospecting equipment goes. I don't know if it is a sign of the economy because they had 40,000 people to come through the gate ! I think all of the vendors were wondering what happened to spending money at the show . But I handed out lots of cards and brochures and hopefully we will get many calls for metal detectors . I must say that the high gold prices are really driving people to get out to find the yellow metal. We will soon see a new Fisher Gold Bug Pro and the Teknetics G2 metal detectors . Ok that's it for now and I wish you all good hunting and be safe while your out in the field .

Hi everyone,

I wanted to say to all of those that have done business with me or even just asked for information on a metal detector or anything else, I am Deeply Grateful to you all ! I know that being a part time dealer right now might make it harder to contact me but I do aim to please and always keep trying. I am enjoying being of service to you all and at least sharing what I know about the metal detecting hobby. I am having fun meeting you all at least by email or phone and sometimes even a handshake.

So if I can be of help or service please believe me I look forward to it and no one ever is a bother. With technology moving so fast it is going to be neat to see what comes to the hobby in 5 or 10 years. I just want to wish all of you good hunting and above all be safe in the field. A Warning about Deepers metal detectors

This is to all that view this, I have been contacted by the Deepers Metal Detectors company in Mexico to be a dist/dealer for them. Avoid them because it is all bogus!!! I suppose I asked enough questions to make them nervous and it looks like they dropped me like a hot potato! I didn't fall for their story and have not gotten ripped by them. This is just a warning for others that might be contacted by them to stay away from Deepers! I hate having to do something like this but it is necessary at times. Just my 2 cents to everyone and my customers. Everyone be careful and safe.

My Inventory

I just wanted to post a friendly reminder to everyone that visits my website, if you don't see what you want, call and if I am not here leave a message and I will get back to you asap. I am able to get many other items for you if you don't mind a short wait. I am also trying to break into more prospecting equipment and would like to be a supplier for all of the prospectors out there.

As many of you may know with the worldwide gold rush prospecting gear is in short supply and the big Minelab 4500 and Teknetics T2 and the Fisher F75 are almost impossible to get now. But we still are able to get plenty of the Eureka Gold VLF gold detectors by Minelab. And don't forget the Tesoro Lobo Supertraq. Fisher also has the Golbug II and will be releasing the Goldbug 3 very soon.

I seem to be getting more orders for the new Angus MacKirk AU Trap flair sluice. This seems to be a very popular sluice already. Also remember to include a set of classifiers to get down to the finest of gold dust. I will be getting the classifier sets from Desort Fox soon. I also stock the JOBE classifiers too. I try to keep a good variety of gold pans. I think it is really interesting to see all the different designs and ideas in gold pans.

Of course my mainline is metal detectors and I try my best to use each and every model so that I can be truthful about their capabilities to all my customers. My favorite metal detector is the Minelab Etrac as far as digital units go. For analog I still like Tesoro's and try to keep them in stock. But there is a shortage on the water machines by Tesoro because of a connector that is not available anymore. They said that these models should be out in another month.

I don't think I mentioned that I am now part owner of the Sharon Kay claims in West New Mexico. I went in with 9 other fellows to purchase them. I've yet to get out to them but hope to soon. This is also known as the Rosedale District.

Ok I wish you all the best and be safe and good hunting!
